Australia’s accidental gold medallist Steven Bradbury is hoping for another win, this time with the sale of his luxurious holiday penthouse at Kings Beach.
Bradbury, a former speed skater, famously won Winter Olympic glory after all of his rivals collided on the final corner at Salt Lake City in 2002.

The unlikely win saw the phrase “done a Bradbury” enter the Aussie vernacular, a nod to being in the right place at the right time, and earned the Olympian a spot in folk hero history.
But with the Sunshine Coast property market on fire during the pandemic property boom, and showing no real signs of a looming crash, Bradbury looks set to earn property gold.
Listed for offers over $2 million, Bradbury’s four bedroom, ground level penthouse in the Kings Palazzo complex at Kings Beach has been listed for sale with Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Caloundra and Hinterland co-principals, Danelle Wiseman and Jonathan Pattinson.
Part of the boutique ‘Kings Palazzo’ complex, and only metres from the beach and Caloundra town centre, the apartment spans over 286sq m, including two courtyards accessed directly from the living area, and two secure car spaces.
With 111sq m of outdoor living space, the apartment consists of four bedrooms, an open plan living room with a modern kitchen, two spacious bathrooms, a powder nook, a second living area or media room and no common walls.
Ms Wiseman said the property would not last long due to its proximity to the beach and its high level of luxury.
“The apartment is less than 250m to the sands of Kings Beach,” she said.
“In addition to the luxurious appointments and size of the property it has the added benefit of direct access to the pool area.
“It really does feel like you have your own personal pool as part of the package.”
Bradbury said the apartments was the perfect place for his family to relax while on holidays.
“When the kids were toddlers everything we needed was at King’s Beach,” he said.
“Parks, playgrounds, beaches, local shops, pubs, restaurants, D’Lish fish and chip shop, all were within a few hundred metres of our unit meaning we rarely needed to use the car.
“Even the annual Caloundra Music Festival is a stone’s throw away.
“As the kids have grown up, depending on the wind and swell direction we can walk down to King’s Beach with the surfboards or duck over the hill in the car to Moffat Beach.
“It’s holiday gold.”
