A pair of Brisbane homeowners saw all their Christmases come at once after securing a $2.05m sale they’d held out for all year – one of several Qld stayers on the market for over 300 days.
The four-level townhouse in Highgate Hill has proven that with the Queensland real estate market at its peak and demand in hyperdrive, it’s not necessarily hoping for a Christmas miracle to wait out the right price.
The townhouse was the only Brisbane property to make the national top 10 list of metro properties listed the longest on realestate.com.au this year, ranking eighth, but it didn’t even make the Queensland state top 10 which was all about the regions.

Qld property listings surge as values hit record highs
Agent Gavin Curtis of Jensen Property Yeronga listed 72 Gladstone Road, Highgate Hill, early this year and kept it going until a sale was landed at the end of November.
“They’ve had offers throughout the year,” he said, “but they stood waiting for their price”.
While flashy presents might be on top of most people’s Christmas lists, simply selling their home is all some homeowners want this holiday season, according to realestate.com.au.
Queensland’s list of longest stayers is all about regional Queensland where sellers are under no pressure and prepared to wait as long as it takes to get the right value.
The longest time a Queensland property has been listed on realestate.com.au this year is 329 days (at the end of November), according to the REA report to November.
Two properties topped the list – 15 Gillespie St, Moura and 30 Needham Ct, Kiels Mountain -after hitting the market four days into the 2021 year and remaining there ever since.
The seller of a three-bedroom house at 15 Gillespie St, Moura, remained firm all year on a price of for the 809sq m block property.
Agent Glenn Botha of Moura Real Estate said the property was good value for that price.
“It’s still a good buy at $135,000 and they are getting $250 a week rent.”
He said the market behaved differently out in the countryside.
“Our market is not the fastest market in the world,” Mr Botha said. “They usually sit around six to 12 months on the market, but some sit for about four years on the same price with no pressure to drop.”
Mr Botha said the sellers of 15 Gillespie Street, Moura, would like to have it sold if they got the right price which was $135,000.
The sellers of 30 Needham Ct, Kiels Mountain, which has also been on the Queensland market longest after listing January 4th this year, have set a price of $1.61m.
With demand skyrocketing across the Sunshine Coast, the 1.01 hectare property owners have switched from offers over $1.45m in May to a price of $1.61m in November.
The property has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, parking for six vehicles, as well as a tennis court, pool, and a flying fox through bushland including tropical and exotic fruit trees such as avocado, lime, orange, banana, mango, jackfruit and pineapples, according to a listing by agent Rosie Ryan of Blue Moon Property Queensland.
The REA stayers list included houses first listed this year that remained currently active on realetate.com.au through to November, leaving out new construction, businesses, those under offer, retirement or housing estates and units.
