Internationally renowned Brisbane author David Malouf’s art deco mansion in blue chip Hamilton has come on the market, and it’s just as stunning as when his father had it made.
Mr Malouf is believed to have written most of his books in the stunning mansion and his name is even engraved in one of the cabinets in the home.
“Malouf House” was commissioned by the father of the eminent Brisbane author and built across three levels with a double brick construction in Art Deco style by Pidgeon Commercial in 1947.

Agent Drew Davies of Place Ascot, who listed the property with colleague Carter Lagana, has it scheduled for auction at Revival Art & Design Gallery in Albion on Wednesday September 8 at 6pm.
He described the home as having “gun barrel views of the Brisbane river and sweeping Hamilton Hill vistas”.
“Renovated in 1991 and again in 2012 by architect Philip Horwood, original character features and modern inclusions have been harmoniously balanced. Those with an appreciation for the period quality will adore window hoods, flat roof, beautiful leadlight windows and double terrace doors,” was how he listed it.
The home also has contemporary additions like a bespoke Darren James styled kitchen with rosewood cabinetry and Brazilian granite benchtops.
There is also a separate second kitchen and bar area plus living room with home theatre on the lower level, an oversized garage for two cars and secure off-street parking.
The property has existing approvals for a lift to be added and is in the Ascot State School catchment, 6km from the Brisbane CBD.
