Most homeowners would grumble at the thought of a graffiti spray can anywhere near their pristine walls.
But in Brisbane, a chic apartment in a heritage conversion has embraced street art to stunning effect.
The two-bedroom pad in Red Hill, one of Brisbane’s oldest and most colourful inner suburbs, has a vibrant bespoke mural in one of bedrooms, gaining the tick of approval from a buyer.
It has been painted by artist Drapl, who holds fond memories of tearing around the roller rink in the suburb as a boy, the listing says.
An arson attack had ripped through the building and it languished, derelict, for two years before the residential redesign commenced.
Drapl (real name Travis Vinson) was engaged to lend a signature flourish to one the last apartments in the development for sale, 10/20 Lower Clifton Terrace.
The 2.7 metre-tall mural is splashed on the wall in the guest bedroom, incorporating references to the local skating rink (the roller-skater is wearing iconic Nike Cortez sneakers) and the signage of Pop’s Popular Pictures, a cinema in the area.
The rainbow colour scheme includes a nod to the bold green graffiti that was splayed across the shell of the building after the fire.
Agents from Duke Realty have placed the property under offer.
