There are 67 suburbs in Queensland where the median asking price for rent is $300 or less, according to Proptrack data.

Rental affordability has taken a hit across the country, but Queensland still has 67 suburbs where rent is $300 a week or less, including Greater Brisbane.

Proptrack data shows there are suburbs spread all through Queensland where median rental asking prices range from as low as $165 a week to $300 a week.

One in five empty homes were in Qld on Census night

The Townsville region had the most suburbs where median rents were $300 or less – with 16 in its tally – followed by Central Qld with 11. There were eight suburbs that made the cut in Wide Bay and the same for Darling Downs/Maranoa.

In the South East corner, Toowoomba and Ipswich had the most suburbs on the list with five apiece, three were in Logan and a single suburb made the list on the Gold Coast.

Rental affordability has taken a massive hit since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Four suburbs on the list were out of Mackay/Isaac/Whitsundays, three were in the Qld outback, and three from Cairns.

The data showed 35 per cent of the suburbs (24) on the list were smack bang on the $300 a week mark.

Two suburbs were at the lowest level of $200 a week and below, seven suburbs in the $230 to $250 a week range, nine suburbs at $260 to $275, 10 had median rents between $278 and $280, six were $283 to $285, and nine were $290 to $295.

3/37 Sinnathamby Boulevard, Springfield Central, has one bedroom in a sharehouse available at $155 per week.
