240 Freshneys Road, Kanigan, is currently running 20 goats and has had a fresh batch of kids born over the weekend.
Lockdown-weary city slickers are flocking to this property which they think is the GOAT – 50 acres for less than the price of the average Brisbane house and a great place to bring up the kids.
The property – which currently runs 20 goats and has seen a fresh batch of kids born over the weekend – may well be the greatest deal of all time for the right buyer, which going by current inspections would be a family from Brisbane, the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast.

Serene views across the valley.
Agent Aleisha Dodt of Century 21 Platinum Agents Gympie and the Cooloola Coast said the views were stunning and the peace absolute.
“We’ve had crazy interest,” she said of phones running hot for info on the 50 hectare property located in just north of Gympie.
“It’s been quite popular. actually. A lot of people (enquiring) are wanting to move out of the city, and this is rural with stunning views up there.”
It’s so popular around nine groups made the drive up – an hour from Noosa – to inspect the location this past weekend.
Fresh Queensland cottage feel.
Sliding barn door pantry anyone?
“They’re not retiring age,” Ms Dodt said. “A lot are mid to late 30s and early 40s. A lot are wanting to escape the city and just have a quieter upbringing for their kids really. A lot have mentioned that we’re not going into lockdown here as often as Brisbane and the Gold Coast.”
The property which has internet via satellite for those looking to work from home, is also a working hobby farm, comfortably running 20 goats and 15 head of cattle, plus a wide range of mature fruit trees including avocados, macadamias, mangoes, lychees, and citrus.
“She just had some fresh babies, they’re about three days old. They’re absolutely gorgeous, they good for a cuddle.”
Free range goats on the 50 acre site.
Loads to explore and appreciate.
Ms Dodt said with privacy, rich soil and its own rainforest with orchids and staghorns, the property was perfect for a hobby farm.
Located at 240 Freshneys Road, Kanigan, the property has a three bedroom cyprus pine framed timber home with stunning views out to the valley, with a classic Belling dual fuel stove, large walk-in pantry and breakfast bar in the kitchen, polished timber floors and a timber fireplace.
There’s a pizza oven outside, three lockable chook pens and four dog kennels, an 8.5KW solar system, gas hot water and a separate viewing deck, plus separate guest quarters, a small feed shed, a cattle shelter and a 14,000 gallons of fresh rainwater storage.
There’s a pizza oven and kids playground looking out to breathtaking scenery.
Alas, the goats are not part of the purchase price, but Ms Dodt said “they’ll probably work something out” for the right buyer.
Among the biggest developments going into the area is a new bypass that’s expected to take 20 minutes off the trip to Noosa.
“That’s just started,” Ms Dodt said, “It’s probably four or five years off finishing but it’s fantastic for the area. It’s really booming.”
