Philanthropist Courtney Talbot is hoping the sale of two massive inner-city waterfront properties in the blue chip suburb of Bulimba are bought by local families.
Ms Talbot is the daughter of the first marriage of former mining magnate Ken Talbot who was one of Australia’s richest men when he died in a plane crash in Congo in June 2010.
Ms Talbot has listed 35 and 39 McConnell St, Bulimba with Place Bulimba real estate agent Sarah Hackett.

They were listed for sale on February 4 with offers for either property, or both as a package, to be submitted by March 4 and the largest Brisbane riverfront offerings in years in that street.
Ms Talbot purchased 35 McConnell St, which was built in 2011 according to CoreLogic, in October 2016 for $3.8m.
Next door, 39 McConnell St, has been owned by the Talbot family for years.
The properties are expected to fetch more than $15m combined based on recent sales, although there have been few in the area.
“I would love to see two families buy the properties and enjoy all the area has to offer, but there is understandably developer interest right along the river,” she said.

In the years since her father passed, Ms Talbot has forged her own successful career as a company director and was also awarded the Queensland Community Foundation’s Emerging Philanthropist of the Year for 2018.
She has held various titles on boards including vice-president of Queensland Library Council and deputy chair of the Giving Committee.
“Making a positive, tangible difference in the community is my passion and what I happily devote my time to,” the very private Ms Talbot told The Courier-Mail’s real estate team.
“I spent my childhood in Bulimba from six years of age, so I have lots of fond memories of growing up near the river and the shipyards that used to dot the waterfront,” she said.
“I also had a front-row seat to the early transformation of the area into a growing residential hub as Brisbane grew.

Combined, the properties cover 2123sq m and offer 40m of water frontage.
Properties along the waterfront in McConnell St are highly sought but also rarely come on the market.
Just three have sold in the past three years, the most recent was 41A McConnell St, which went under contract last weekend although the price has yet to be disclosed.
Previously 9 McConnell St, a sleek modern five-bedroom home on a 530sq m lot, changed hands for $5.4m in September and that was the first sale on the waterfront in McConnell St since No. 99, on a 1473sq m block, sold for $8.4m in September 2019.
