This European-inspired hinterland home holds many memories for a family of four generations living under one roof.
But after more than five years, owner Marion Marshall has decided it’s time to move on from La Tourelle (French for The Turret), a home hand built by renowned local stonemason Angel Buj-Casanoves.

Each piece of sandstone, granite and marble was specifically selected, shaped and laid by hand to form the mini-chateau, one of the Sunshine Coast’s most prestigious homes.
The modern day fairytale castle home at 55 Foley Rd, Ilkley has eight bedrooms, six bathroom and is nestled high among the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Ms Marshall, originally from Finland, lives at the 1.03ha property with her mother Pirkko, 82, daughter Pia, and granddaughter Paloma.
“We moved here because it was a big place for the family and mum needed to be closer to us. But in 2015 I got sick with breast cancer and three and a half years ago my husband died from a heart attack,” Ms Marshall said.
“Mum is still here but we have made the decision to downsize and that will just be better for her.”
She said her daughter moved in to help with a business they started just before Covid crippled their dreams.
“It was called Shop Fortune, a costume business, and we had travelled to America a few times to attend Halloween Expos, but then the business just died because of Covid.”
Ms Marshall said making the decision to downsize was a difficult one.
“I love everything about this home. The serenity, the peacefulness, the fresh air and ocean views,” Ms Marshall said.
“When you wake up in the morning you can see the beautiful sunrise and hear the birds chirping away.
“The property is secluded and there’s no neighbours. I just love the size of this home.
“There’s four generations in one house, and each of us have our own floor.”
‘La Tourelle’ is spacious and secluded in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
Renovations to the home include the downstairs area which Ms Marshall said was converted into a two-bedroom apartment.
“It’s got a walk-in robe, kitchen and my granddaughter’s bedroom.”
Before listing her property on the market, Ms Marshall said she sold their chickens and peacock, called Julio.
“We just couldn’t have a peacock running around here during inspections,” she laughed.
“We’ve got two dogs, a chow chow and Maltese-shih Tzu, plus two ragdoll cats and they will be making the move with us too.”
‘La Tourelle’ is a unique Queensland home for sale.

The kitchen is the perfect place to cook up a storm for family gatherings.
Ms Marshall said it was her husband who insisted on buying the mini-chateau.
“He absolutely loved the views of the ocean and the massive balcony. It has a European feeling and when you walk in you just go ‘wow’,” she said.
“We’ve have had so many great family gatherings here, including my granddaughter’s naming ceremony – that was a big party by the pool area.
“I am going to cry when I leave here, it’s going to very sad.”
The property is for sale (price on application) with Property Lane Realty agents William Emms (0423 380 685) and Athena Law (0408 884 104).
