Kevin Seymour revealed as buyer of prime Noosa waterfront site

The buyer of this property on the waterfront in Noosa Parade has been revealed as developer and richlister Kevin Seymour.

QUEENSLAND richlister and veteran property developer Kevin Seymour has been revealed as the buyer of a waterfront home in one of Noosa’s most exclusive pockets for $15.5m.

The sale of the mixed-use property on Noosa Parade in Noosa Sound settled recently, with the founder of Seymour Group, whose family is reportedly worth almost $750m, emerging as the purchaser.

The 81-year-old told The Courier-Mail he is planning to demolish the two existing commercial and apartment buildings on the huge 1120 sqm site with a 20m water frontage, and build a “Hawaiian-inspired, resort-style home” for he and his wife, Kay.

“I’ve had my eye on it for quite some time,” Mr Seymour said. “The vendors didn’t want to sell until recently.”

Mr Seymour said the house would be significant, with a caretaker’s quarters and a 10-car garage.

“The biggest problem we’ve got at our age is we hope to live to see it completed!” he said.

The property was marketed as ‘an opportunity in a lifetime’ by Tom Offermann Real Estate principal Tom Offermann, and is one of the biggest residential sales of the financial year in Queensland.

The property has a 20m water frontage and covers more than 1100 sqm.

“To obtain a waterfront site like this on Noosa Sound would normally require buying two adjoining properties, which is virtually impossible, making this a one-off opportunity which cannot be repeated,” he said.

Mr Seymour beat a strong contingent of locals and interstate and international buyers to the property.

It fronts the pristine Noosa River.

The site had been owned since the 1970s by Natural Growth Partners founders, Robert and Timothy Buruma.

The Seymour family was outbid at auction when a three-bedroom penthouse in ‘La Mer’ on Hastings Street sold for $9.8m to a Melbourne couple in November, 2020.

Kevin Seymour is understood to be planning to demolish the existing buildings on the site and build a designer home.

Mr Seymour is behind many of Brisbane CBD’s landmark buildings, including Post Office Square and QueensPlaza.

He recently launched massive residential projects along the river in New Farm, including ‘The Oxlade’ and ‘The Peninsula’.
