David Wenham, the star of The Lord of the Rings – who will always be precious to Aussie audiences as Diver Dan – discreetly bought a home in Brisbane.
The actor and his wife Kate Agnew migrated from Sydney to the Sunshine State at the start of the pandemic in 2020.
And what they settled on has come to light.
The pair purchased a New Farm address for $2.75 million, Domain Pricefinder records show.
They are the fourth owners of the property, which cost just $500,000 back in 2001 and has rocketed in price since.
New Farm has a median house price of $2.24 million, according to Domain’s latest House Price Report (for the June quarter).
Prices have soared in the postcode, typical of the broader Brisbane market, rising 12 per cent over the past three months, or 46 per cent over five years, Domain data reveals.
This has been fueled by southern-state migration to Queensland, just as Wenham and Agnew did.
The pair listed their Potts Point apartment in the Macleay Regis building, which they owned for 25 years, earlier this year, according to the Sydney Morning Herald’s Title Deeds.
They traded the art deco pad in May this year for $5.755 million.
Wenham starred as Dan Della Bosca – better known as Diver Dan – alongside Sigrid Thornton in the late 1990’s hit TV series SeaChange, and the show made him a sex symbol.
He broke millions of Aussie hearts when his character left Pearl Bay for the Galapagos Islands.
Hollywood knocked and he most recently filmed Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, playing country singer Hank Snow, who hired Elvis Presley to be his opening act in 1954.
Wenham’s screen credits include Lion opposite Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman, Australia (directed by Luhrmann and with Kidman again), Pieces of Her, Les Norton, Van Helsing and Romper Stomper.
