When it comes to selling a house at auction there are very few suburbs, if any, that are better performing across Greater Brisbane than Wishart, according to exclusive CoreLogic data.
For three years straight, it has been in the top three areas for clearance rates and auctions within the suburb have increased from fewer than one per week in 2019 to more than seven per month last year.
With a 94.5 per cent success rate at auction in 2021, it was the second most successful suburb to sell a house under the hammer behind Lutwyche (94.7 per cent). Then followed Sinnamon Park (93.8) and Stafford Heights (93.2).
The southside suburb, about 10km from the CBD as the crow flies, has been a consistently strong performer at auction, finishing third (76.1 per cent) in 2020 and second (75 per cent) in 2019.

It’s not the success rate but also the number of houses going to auction in Wishart.
There were 91 house auctions in 2021, more than double eight of the other top 10 suburbs. The nearest was Algester (91.3 per cent) with 47 auctions.
Testing the market to see if it is just as buoyant in Wishart this year is empty-nester Irina Heinrich who has put their family home of 34 years up for auction.
Her three-bedroom home at 24 Amsterdam St, Wishart goes under the hammer on February 12.
“The children have all moved out and I do not need a house this size anymore,” Ms Heinrich said.
“I will downsize but it is a great area to raise a family with so many parks and being near Garden City (shopping centre).

“I have been to a few auctions so I know the process and there have been a lot of people at those auctions.”
Ms Heinrich could have had a straight-out sale, but the market interest in Wishart is extremely strong, said LJ Hooker real estate agent Kosma Comino.
As the house is within the catchment area of the highly-regarded Mansfield State High School, young families were drawn to the area, he said.
“The best way was to auction due to high demand and competition from parents needing to be in the catchment,” Mr Comino said.
“About eighty-five per cent of the interest from families, between thirty and forty years of age, and the other 15 per cent are investors wanting to be close to the Garden City as well.”
