A private equity partner has sold his Noosa holiday home for $14.25m a week after flicking a beach property listed for $18m – though the tally falls just shy of covering his new $35m home.
The Noosa $14.25m price tag was the highest price fetched in the Queensland this past week, according to CoreLogic records, taken by Sydney private equity whiz Simon Moore of Colinton Capital Partners.
The sale is believed to have set a new Noosa record for homes on a standard circa 600sq m beachfront block, with the only bigger dollars seen in recent times going to those on double beach blocks.

Mr Moore and wife Lucinda Cowdroy put two stunning beachfront properties on the market in September – the $14.25m one in Noosa and one in Bronte, NSW listed for about $18m – after reportedly buying a $35m home in one of Sydney’s most affluent suburbs Vaucluse.
Tom Offermann Real Estate agent Tim McSweeney took the Noosa property at 20 Arakoon Crescent, Sunshine Beach, to auction on Sunday.
Agency principal Tom Offermann said “living on the front row right on the beach is something that most people aspire to, and values will continue to respond to that ever present demand”.
“The same emotions were driving buyers in the 1980s when we were selling beachfront houses for under $200,000, only the prices have changed. Real estate always pays off for long term investors, and the $14,250,000 paid (Sunday) will in time seem cheap”.
A Noosa apartment broke the Queensland auction record just over a week ago after selling for $16.1m under the hammer. The property at 5/81 Hastings Street, Noosa Heads, was also the highest price anyone has ever paid for an apartment in Queensland.
The Queensland house price record is also held by a beachfront home in Sunshine Beach, Noosa, believed to have been bought by mining magnate Gina Rinehart for $34m.
The latest beachfront sizzler on Sunday was designed by Frank Macchia to cantilever over Sunshine Beach, which “allows you to feel like you are floating on the ocean” was how listing agent Mr McSweeney described it.
“For those seeking a private, safe, secure and unrivalled lifestyle this beautiful beach house has the most amazing views plus it is in one of the most revered streets of beachside Sunshine Beach. This home is situated equidistant between the off lead dog area of Sunshine and the patrolled beach. A short stroll up to the Surf Club and shops.”
