HENDRA’S suburb price record has been spectacularly broken with a renovated Queenslander selling under the hammer for $4.5 million, as Brisbane’s auction market continues to amaze.
Seven local bidders competed for the grand, five-bedroom home on more than 1000 sqm at 20 Pring Street before a couple upgrading from New Farm secured the winning bid.

The sale price smashes the previous Hendra record by $650,000 and is $1.6 million more than the property last sold for only three years ago.
Records show the home fetched $2.9 million in October 2018.
The previous suburb sale price record was held by a property at 12 Blaikie St, Hendra, which sold for $3.85 million in July.
Jill Wright of Place Ascot, who marketed the property with Patrick McKinnon, said the result was higher than the vendor expected.
After a low opening bid of $2.5 million, the bidding quickly jumped to $3.5 million before it came down to two couples at the $4.3 million mark.
Ms Wright said the vendor decided to set a higher reserve than initially planned, but the sale price still beat it by $300,000.
“There was so much that was unique about this house,” Ms Wright said.
“It was a showpiece of the area. A beautiful, big Queenslander in the centre of a 1000 sqm, flat block.
“It also had a really great floorplan that appealed to older families as well as younger.”
Hendra is a high-demand suburb with a median house price of over $1 million.
