An unlikely hinterland town on the Sunshine Coast has set a new suburb record, with a house selling for over $230,000 more than its asking price.
The architecturally-designed house at Nambour was on the market for offers over $949,000, but after 10 formal offers – eight of which were north of $1 million – it sold to a Brisbane family for $1,181,500.

RE/MAX Property Sales Sunshine Coast agent Tristan Brown said the Pearl Parade property attracted buyers from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and New Zealand.
It was on the market for just six days, he said.
On a 918sq m block, the sale eclipses the previous record that was set for a house in the suburb in 2020.
That was for an acreage property and went for $1.027 million.
“There has never been a residential house on a block of 1000sq m or less that has sold for a $1 million in Nambour,” he said.
“Buyers were looking in Nambour I think because they see value in what their money can buy, and there is also the lifestyle benefits.
“We are still only 20 minutes from the beach, the gateway to the hinterland, and we are a suburb that is gentrifying and people feel that excitement around the transition that Nambour is going in.”
The multi-level stunner was built by Troy Montgomery Constructions, and has view over the town, to the Bli Bli valley and the ocean.
It has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, and features include a grand foyer, a modern kitchen, two living areas, a huge covered deck, a fireplace in the lounge, a pool and two water tanks.
There is also landscaped and terraced gardens, the owners put the house on the market as they are relocating to Far North Queensland.
The median house price in Nambour is now $485,000, up 15.5 per cent in 12 months, according to the latest REA Market Trends report for August.
A decade ago, the average house in Nambour would have set you back around $324,000.
There are only two other properties currently listed for sale above that sales price – a 17-acre opulent rural property and a 47-acre property with two residences that used to be a commercial nursery.
Both are listed for offers over $2 million.
