One of the largest private estates on the Brisbane River spanning 4.4ha – owned by Qld richlisters Terry and Mary Peabody – goes on the market today, set for auction mid-October.
Jason Adcock of Adcock Prestige confirmed the 28 Zelita Road, Moggill, listing would be live from Friday (September 9), with a private boardroom auction scheduled for October 13.
Known as White Waltham, Mr Adcock described the estate as ‘a world-class, riverfront estate, with some of the most spectacular grounds and gardens of any acreage property that I have sold in the last 30 years”.
“With a sneak peek announcement ahead of the upcoming campaign release, I have already received strong interest from local, interstate and international buyers prior to the property’s official market launch.”
He expected a significant number of enquiries from prominent local businesspeople, Melbourne and Sydney buyers looking to move north to the 2032 Olympic Games city, and expats returning from Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom.
“This exceptionally secluded and secure property is situated less than 30 minutes from Brisbane’s CBD and only 35 minutes from Brisbane’s international and domestic terminals”.
Mr Peabody, who was worth nearly $1.5b at his peak in 2007 off investments in fly ash, concrete, trucking and waste management, was most recently in the news after one of his companies stepped in to fly back Australian cricket legend Shane Warne’s body from Asia via private jet.
The 4.4ha estate has a six bedroom, six bathroom main residence with formal and informal living zones, billiard room, wine cellar, home office, chef’s kitchen, and a stunning glass conservatory overlooking the river.
There is also an additional residence which could be used as a caretaker’s home or for multi-generational families and a beautiful purpose-built summer house by the river for entertaining and larger events. The estate comes with a floodlit tennis court, orchard, in ground swimming pool with its own entertainment pavilion, bathroom and sauna.
Mr Adcock said the auction would be held privately at his headquarters at 2 Gardner Close, Milton given “the potential for several high-profile registered bidders in attendance on the day”.
“The anonymity of a secure, closed-door auction heralds an assurance of confidentiality during the entire auction process and any subsequent negotiations.”
Mr Peabody’s retirement has included travelling the world including visiting his Craggy Range winery in New Zealand and his ski lodge at Whistler in Canada.
