The busy Brisbane street where the median price is over $3m

It is regarded as one of Brisbane’s busiest roads, but now it can also claim the title of one of the city’s most expensive — well, a section of it at least.

Wynnum Rd, in the affluent inner eastern suburb of Norman Park, has been found to have a median property sale price of just over $3 million, making it the 10th most expensive on a list compiled by Ray White economists.

This property at 125 Wynnum Rd, Norman Park, is on the market. Wynnum Road has been named one of Brisbane’s most expensive streets by Ray White.

And while the street can become a carpark during peak hour, it also boasts some of the best views in the city and some of the most beautiful homes.

One of them is a tastefully restored Spanish-Mission-style home at 125 Wynnum Rd, Norman Park.

The home comes with a Spanish-style pool and outdoor area.

Interior designer Jodie Italia and her builder husband Adam are selling the four-bedroom home on a double block overlooking the City after calling it home for the past five years.

“We had purchased it to live in while we were renovating another house, but we fell in love with it while we were living there,” Mrs Italia said.

“We decided to sell the other house and instead renovate this one.”

The city views from the property are incredible.

The Italias have doubled the size of the original home, adding a pool, an extra living room and a rooftop terrace.

“It took about 18 months to restore,” Mrs Italia said.

The 1920s home has undergone a significant restoration.

“It hadn’t really been touched since it was built in late ’20s. We got Italian renderers to do the stucco so it would look the same as the original and imported Spanish roof tiles — it was a pretty intense renovation!”

Mrs Italia admitted Wynnum Rd sometimes carried a stigma because it was such a main arterial, but living on it had never bothered her.

The home is like something straight out of the Mediterranean.

“Inside, because it’s double brick, you honestly don’t hear a thing, and the views are amazing,” she said.

“It’s so close to the City, easy to get around. It’s the best home I have ever lived in — and there have been many.”

The family is looking to join family interstate or perhaps live in Italy once the borders open.

“You feel like you’re in Europe living here — it has a very Mediterranean feeling. She’s a special girl.”
