There is caution tape across the windows, the roof is caving in and the whole place is riddled with termites and mould.
But such is the crazy Gold Coast property market, this Southport house will go under the hammer on September 30.

Why underwater blocks on the Gold Coast are hot property
Clive Palmer snaps up neighbour’s ‘spaceship’ mansion
3 Baratta St at Southport
On a 1277sq m block, the house “is not tenantable or liveable”, and has extensive water and termite damage, according to the listing by Ray White Southport agent Andrew Murray.
Yes, that is mould on the walls
But with land in short supply on the Gold Coast, the property, which is on the market for the first time in 50-odd years, is expected to be snapped up by a developer or buyer keen to knock it down and build a modern mansion.
The caved in ceiling is an unusual feature
“I have just finished wrapping the whole house in caution tape,” Mr Murray said.
“It used to be a family home but over time, it deteriorated and once the termites got in, that was it.”
The danger tape adds a unique touch to the decor
Mr Murray said he was selling the house on behalf of the son, who is now living interstate.
He said he had fielded “about 25 calls in the first 17 hours” of the listing going live, with Southport one of the biggest beneficiaries of the light rail and subsequent gentrification of the suburb.
“(They are) Sub-dividers, small and big developers, land bankers, locals, even some people talking about buying it and then leaving it as is for 20 years.
“Vacant blocks, especially over 1200sq m, are exceptionally rare.”
That ‘skylight’ is not actually meant to nbe there
The property will go under the hammer at 11am on September 30.
